Galina is a Seattle-based multidisciplinary artist who turns small moments worth keeping into photographs, music, illustration and handmade work.

She has been making music for 26 years, across violin, piano, voice, music theory and composition, and taking photographs for 20. Her practice also includes 10 years of fiber arts, 5 of drawing and, most recently, animation and illustration. She brings an engineer’s curiosity to all of it, and a love of figuring out how things work.

In every medium, her work sits in the tension between nostalgia and presence. Lately that means pairing her nature photography with animation, custom sound and handmade elements.

Slavic roots, East Coast-raised and rooted in the Pacific Northwest for seven years, Galina draws on a multicultural life that includes the Pakistani family she married into. She supports local artists and community efforts, believing in giving back to those whose shoulders we stand on, and those communities that we have stomped on.

Her favorite color is sage green. The Pacific Northwest has shown her just how many greens there are, and she owns the colored pencils to prove it.

These days she’s also trading cards on Postcrossing, collecting postcards from all 50 states and tracking down regional postmarks and the stories behind them, as well as refocusing on her photography, animation, and music work.
