Who is Galina?
Hi, I’m Galina! I’m currently a Seattle-based artist and musician, with a deep love for postcards, photography, and mixed media arts.
Most of my life, I grew up on the east coast in the Washington, DC, area before finding my home in the Pacific Northwest, where I’ve lived and thrived for the past seven years. I’ve been a musician and artist since the ripe age of four, and somewhere along the way, I fell in love with the art of the personal note. For me, finding the perfect card for someone, filling it with what they love, and sending it off, without expecting anything in return, is a very joyful and calming ritual for me. I enjoy sitting down with a cup of coffee, early in the morning, be present, and write a quick note, and send it off from where I am. It’s like sending a snapshot in time, especially when I’m traveling. I think snail mail is a beautiful and slowly reviving art form, and I’m so delighted to be a part of the journey to bring it back.
My work lives at the intersection of photography, music, mixed media, nostalgia, and storytelling. My photography tends toward the airy and nostalgic, and I love layering it with other materials and mediums like animation, custom music, and handmade elements. I’m still finding my physical medium style, as all artists are, but I find that to be part of the fun. Every piece I make is tuned to your story, whether it’s a small custom order, or something larger.
I draw inspiration from multicultural experiences. I’m russian-born, East Cost-raised, PNW-rooted, and married into a beautiful Pakistani family. I find that seeing people through the lens of their intersectionality of their life is one of the most touching things we can do. I support local artists and community efforts wherever I can, because I believe in giving back to the place and the community you’re in.
Favorite color? Millenial sage green, and I’m not sorry about it. PNW has expanded my perception of the color green and I’ve acquired many additional green colored pencils to accurately portray each shade.
Some things I’m working on - contributing to Postcrossing, collecting postcards from all 50 states, diving deep into the PNW lore, hunting down regional postmarks and the stories behind them. And very soon, an Etsy shop to tell my story, which in turn will make a small imprint on yours.
If any of this resonates with you, I’d love to connect. Every project gets my full attention - I’ve worked on wedding invites, small batch postcard printing, custom event cards, paper coasters, business logos, stickers, animations, custom music… anything that you can think of, I’ll come up with a plan to inspire you on your journey.
